Miana Stewart Memorial Award

Miana and her new horse, Chance, attended our first Charity Horse Show in September 2005 and were looking forward to coming back to our October show. On Oct 13, 2005, Miana arrived home from school and was killed by a burglar in their home. She was a loving, giving 14 year old. Miana’s father said, “I believe if everyone had a little more of Miana in them the world would be a better place.” Upon hearing of this tragedy, we wanted to honor Miana and help keep her spirit alive. In 2006 and 2007, we held Charity Horse Shows and our Annual Awards Banquet, Miana’s parents, Mary and Randy Stewart awarded the Miana Steward High Point Award to the individual who had obtained the most points in their division Miana.

Those who received the award are:

2006 Jennifer Brown
2007 Olivia LeMaster

At the end of the 2007 season, it was determined that the horse shows were not a viable fundraiser. After meeting with the Stewart’s, it was decided that we would continue to honor Miana but selecting a teenage volunteer who had demonstrated Miana’s Spirit. Each November at our banquet we award the Miana Stewart Volunteer Memorial Award to a teen volunteer who we feel gives their all and demonstrates Miana’s joy for live and love for others.

Those receiving the award are:

2008 Kelly Taylor
2009 Kelly Dotson
2010 Jennifer Brown
2011 Megan Curry
2012 Janie Beale
2013 Jamie Griffith
2014 Julie and Katelyn Wyant
